The Theory and Practice of Hell: The German Concentration Camps and the System Behind Them, är en bok publicerad 1950 av författaren Eugen Kogon.[1] Ursprunglig orginaltitel Der SS-Staat.Das System der deutschen Konzentrationslager, publicerad 1946.[2] I sin bok anger Kogon antalet döda i koncentrationslägret Auschwitz till 3,5, 4,5, och 5,5 miljoner.
