Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson, född den 13 april 1743, avliden den 4 juli 1826. USA:s tredje president under åren 1801 till 1809 och den andra vicepresident 1797 till 1801. Han var även statsman, ambassadör i Frankrike, politisk filosof, jordbrukare, landägare, arkitekt, arkeolog, författare, uppfinnare och grundare av University of Virginia. Jefferson var även den främste upphovsmannen till den amerikanska självständighetsdeklarationen.

Thomas Jefferson om privata banker
Jefferson var en motståndare till privatägd centralbank, likt dagens Federal Reserve, som han såg som ett sätt att skaffa sig monopol och "unauthorized extension of federal power". I Jefferson's Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank : 1791 står att läsa under punkt 7:
- "To give them the sole and exclusive right of banking under the national authority; and so far is against the laws of Monopoly."
Out of Europe-teorin
Jefferson anses ha givit ett tidigt stöd för Out of Europe-teorin, en teori om att europeiska folk var först på den amerikanska kontinenten. I ett citat från Jeffersson talar statsmannen om vad som först på 2000-talet kom att vinna arkeologiskt stöd i vetenskapliga kretsar:
